| Change to Intermediate Division |
Jun 21, 2009
The definition for the Intermediate division changes in 2009. The intermediate division is unique to INBA and designed as a stepping-stone before a competitor needs to compete in the open division. Intermediate is designed to protect a competitor from facing much better or experienced open competitors after competing as a novice or if your competitive progress is not yet ready for the open class. However, in 2009 INBA is restricting how long a competitor can stay in the intermediate division. Enforced from this year, competitors who place in the top 3 at any state title must compete in the open division the following year. For example, those placing top 3 in the intermediate state division this year qualify to compete in the intermediate division at this year’s Australian Titles, but must move up to the open class in 2010 and onwards. Note: it is not compulsory to compete in the intermediate class; you can move directly into the open.
