3 NSW Competitors Banned

Jun 9, 2009

ImageFrom the NSW Titles on 28 September 2008 three competitors were banned after our drug testing. Cherie Wyer tested positive for the anabolic steroid, Nandrolone. She received a two year ban across all sports under our drug policy and a life ban from INBA for Misconduct. INBA considers using an anabolic steroid as unacceptable. Jeffery Abu-Ali refused to supply a sample for testing and received a two year ban across all sports under our drug policy and a life ban from INBA for Misconduct. An INBA Member can never refuse a drug test. Shane Cardona tested positive for cannabis but successfully proved to ASADA that there was no intention to cheat or gain a performance enhancement and only received a 3 month sanction that has already been served and he is able to compete with INBA at any time. Due to the high number of doping breaches in NSW, the 2009 Sydney Titles on 3 May was blitz-tested by ASADA with 50 per cent of competitors been drug tested. The adverse outcomes from these tests will be announced later.
