INBA detects Designer Steroid

Sep 19, 2008

ImageThe INBA has issued a LIFE ban to US competitor, Rick Salazar who returned a positive urine test for desoxymethyltestosterone. The banned substance is also known as a “Designer Steroid” and this heralds the first time in natural bodybuilding that the presence of such an advanced designer drug has occurred. While the use of a designer steroid in amateur sport raises cheating to a new level, for the INBA organization it is just another group of drugs they are capable of detecting. INBA use the highest standard of drug detection in the world (WADA) and an INBA competitor's urine sample undergoes testing for 770 banned substances. Mr Salazar is yet another scalp to the INBA drug testing program and was stripped of his Open and Overall Titles from the 2008 INBA Iron Gladiator event.
